GIF Monster is built and maintained by 3Headed Monster — a creative shop that needed fast, reliable tools for everyday production. We were frustrated with bloated converters and paywalls, so we built something simple, useful, and free for everyone. Every feature is designed to solve real problems we run into: whether that’s trimming a clip, checking an ad banner, or shrinking images for the web.
Today, GIF Monster includes the Video → GIF Converter, QR → Link Decoder, Image → WebP Converter, and the HTML5 Validator. We keep everything browser-based, easy to use, and constantly improving. Check our News and Updates section for the latest features.
Tools Used
GIF Monster runs on a mix of modern browser APIs, open source libraries, and cloud services. Here are some of the key building blocks that make it possible:
- Browser APIs: getUserMedia powers live QR scanning, Canvas drives previews and rendering, and Web Workers keep everything snappy.
- Conversion & Validation: FFmpeg for video → GIF encoding, JSZip for ZIP parsing in our HTML5 Validator, and open-source QR decoding libraries (based on ZXing).
- Google Cloud: Cloud Run for scalable workers, Cloud Storage for temporary assets, and Cloud Build for automated deploys.
- Design & UX: lightweight CSS with built-in dark mode, accessible controls, and clean cards for consistency across Video → GIF, QR Decoder, WebP Converter, and Validator.
